In Category Food Logistics Services, we source, procure, optimise, manage and operate cold chain transportation, warehousing and logistics services for IKEA Food. Together with our service providers, we secure the storage, handling and delivery of food products across different temperature needs. We develop solutions that support availability, affordability, quality, food safety and sustainability.


About the role
We are looking for a Business Developer who wants to develop our food logistics business together with service providers and colleagues across the IKEA value chain. You will take end-to-end ownership of sourcing and managing relationships with assigned cold chain logistics service providers. You will turn business needs into practical solutions, strengthen long-term partnerships and improve performance across transportation, warehousing and related logistics services. The role reports to the Business Development Manager.


In this role you will:
Take overall responsibility for the business and performance of an assigned portfolio of service providers and a defined business scope.
Turn business needs and market insights into logistics solutions and lead the procurement process from business case and tender through negotiation, agreement and development actions.
Challenge and support service providers to improve cost, capacity, quality, operational performance, food safety, compliance and sustainability together with relevant IKEA colleagues.
Use facts, market knowledge and cost understanding to find opportunities, manage risks and recommend solutions that create the best total value for IKEA.
Secure agreements and follow up that service providers meet relevant requirements for IWAY, supply chain security, financial screening, food safety and operational compliance.



We are looking for someone who:
Has a university degree in logistics, economics or business administration, or a strong track record from a similar role.
Understands the food logistics value chain end to end and has experience working with the complexity of global sourcing and logistics. Can balance cost, capacity, performance and sustainability when making business decisions.
Brings strong negotiation, project management, analytical and financial skills. Can work with cash flow, profit and loss, cost breakdowns and fact-based business cases.
Has a proven entrepreneurial approach in materializing ideas to solutions together with Service Providers.
Communicates clearly in written and spoken English and can present complex business topics in a simple, engaging way.
Shares our IKEA values, enjoys finding new business opportunities and has the curiosity and drive to turn ideas into practical improvements.

The role works across cultures and time zones and includes regular travels.
